Hi, I’m Ashley Miznazi
I’m a journalist, filmmaker, writer and photographer covering climate solutions and consumer impacts for the Miami Herald.
My authentic visual storytelling connects personal stories with larger issues in concise and engaging clips.
Over the last couple of years in Miami, I’ve reported real-world health consequences of extreme heat on farmworkers and prisoners, explored the state falling behind on installing fast chargers for electric cars (largely because of political optics) and dug into the county’s lack of interest in large-scale composting while its landfills approach capacity. After Hurricane Helene, I took front page photos and intimate video profiles of the disaster recovery.
With a background in video, I got my boots on the ground training as a multimedia community reporter at the Haitian Times through Report for America, a national service program that places journalists into local newsrooms across the country. As a student at The University of Texas at Austin, I produced short news documentaries for the Texas Tribune.
